Survey and Molecular Identification of Xanthomonas euvesicatoria Causing Bacterial Spot of Tomato in Blue Nile State in Sudan

This study aimed to survey, characterize, and identify the causal pathogen of tomato bacterial spots (TBS). The survey evaluated disease incidence severity on cultivated in Blue Nile State during autumn season 2015. surveyed sites were Alrosseris Aldmazein localities. Four farms selected from each locality. Symptomatic leaves collected sent plant pathology laboratory, Department Crop protection, Faculty Agriculture, University Khartoum for detection pathogen. Pathogenicity isolated bacteria was confirmed by relevant test. characterized morphologically, biochemically at molecular level. revealed that there no significant difference within locality, while differences (P ≤ 0.05) among locations both localities severity. remarkably high Aldamazein which recorded 49.27 52.17 %, respectively, 28.28 30.32%, respectively. results showed isolates rod shaped, obligate aerobic, Gram negative, catalase positive, oxidase able hydrolyse starch gelatine, yellow colonies nutrient agar Yeast Dextrose Calcium carbonate (YDC) media. In pathogenicity test, bacterium known as Xanthomonas vesicatoria be euvesicatoria PCR sequence analysis 16S RNA gene (Gen Bank Accession No's MH047248, MH051263 MG686236).These also indicate plants grown highly infected leaf spots.
